Working with Common Ground and young people from Lowestoft, Flip the Museum re-skins the exterior of Lowestoft Museum with a virtual trail of re-imagined and missing stories related to the museum’s collection, using video, sound and your smartphone.
Working with writer James McDermott, the young people have created poems responding to objects in the collection and re-contextualising them within their own ideas around current social and political concerns.
The poems are by Sameera Bhalotra Bowers, Sophie Siu and Lily Smith.
These poems have been turned into a series of six short films by Mutiny, with original soundtracks by Sandy Nuttgens. The young people also narrated their poems for the short films.
These videos are sited within a digital map available to view in situ around Lowestoft Museum on your smartphone, and on your desktop/tablet at home.
Click on each of the six pins on the map below, and read about the objects from Lowestoft Museum that inspired the poems, and then tap play to view the short films at each pin.
